That’s Correct , only 25400 mls , have massively overspent on my cherished Dune as planned on her being my last car . but my old left leg’s suffering from a trapped nerve and need to switch to an automatic .bought the car only a year ago with 23k mls on the clock (only done 2.5k mls since) including a trip to the Lake District from Dorset , New Cam Belt & Water Pump came on purchase £400 but with 2 advisories ,corroded front discs and the headlamps were misting up , so first job for my trusted mechanic was to Fit new Bembro Discs and Pads all round with new brake fluid, upgraded the engine oil for a specific grade with Bosch filter (have been known to be fussy) followed by New Headlamps from Halfords , new Key Fob Duracell batteries , in January fitted a new Exide EA770 Exide Premium Battery (3 year warranty) . 1/6/26 New Starter Motor and Solonoid . Following didn’t need doing , just customising as I do 1) the legendary bullet proof 1.9 tdi engine is a simple durable PD unit (many in the states have done over 300,ooo mls .) so with this very low mileage engine it was perfectly safe / no risk to have a stage one remap done , rang the Insurance Company and they advised it would be listed on my policy at no extra cost so Kar Technic (vag specialists did the work) which increased the HP from 130 to 186 and increased the Torque by 74 Nm safer smoother overtaking and supposedly better fuel consumption , I’m an 80 year-old , not a boy racer . 2) loved the Dune but thought she could do with a facelift so got Woodville Stretton to remove the roof rails , and spray VW Black Gloss to the roof and a & c pillars , wing mirror caps and door handles . made her look sleeker and newer . also matched the rear lamps . original Dunes came unmatched . 3) upgraded the radio to get DAB+ properly with upgraded cable and Sharkfin arial . 4) upgraded the wheels to 18″ VW Diamond Cut Nivelles with New Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance 2s for better ride and quietness . Transformed the looks , filled out the wheel arches etc , and ride . it’s missing covers for the locking wheel nuts which are on their way . Mot to next September with no advisories . a far more practical car than a Golf , bigger load area , ideal for taller lads in the back , easier for Mums to put their kiddies into their Isofix mounted car seats and far easier for Driver and Passenger to get into the front . a new VW Golf Plus 2008 Brochure comes with it (interesting) . the private plate will be changed to GF64 ZKR . Compare it with the basic 2008 Silver Dune with 82,000 mls on the clock at £5999 on Autotrader . so what’s this one worth ? at £5500 it’s a steal . any queries please message . happy to help . she’s in Poole Dorset .
