Due to the purchase of a new family car I regret the sale of my much loved Mk5 Golf GTI. This car exceeded my expectations as I always wanted one since I saw it on Top Gear all those years ago.
It is in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition considering it's nearly 20 years old so you will get the odd mark and small scratch. Slight sagging in roof headliner which is common on these Golfs.

Due to the purchase of a new family car I regret the sale of my much loved Mk5 Golf GTI. This car exceeded my expectations as I always wanted one since I saw it on Top Gear all those years ago.
It is in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition considering it’s nearly 20 years old so you will get the odd mark and small scratch. Slight sagging in roof headliner which is common on these Golfs.
I have so much paperwork, history, invoices, service book, V5, 2 keys etc. I even have the original bottle opener that comes with the car and the GOLF rubber mats as shown in the photos.
It comes with leather seats, front seats are heated and are cosmetically in good condition for its age with general marks but no tears.
It has automatic wipers and lights and has Air Conditioning which works amazingly well much better than my new car.
I have also never changed the radio head unit it is the original one fitted.
Nothing has been done to the engine it is all original, the only thing I have changed is the exhaust as I didn’t want to keep paying for standard exhausts which rust over time. I had a custom CAT Back stainless steel system made and fitted by MJ EXHAUSTS in Walsall (I had seen them on CAR SOS). I kept with the original twin pipe style and also had the sound tuned so it is not too loud but it sounds really nice and sporty, also exhaust comes with lifetime warranty.
The car has done 168,300 miles but it drives amazing, this is because the car has been well maintained and any money that needed spending on it has been spent, I have all the receipts to prove this as shown in the photos.
The car has been well maintained in the 5 years that I have owned it by a local well established company Crescent Motors, in Burton-upon-Trent.
The car has a MOT until the 07/04/2027
Important things recently carried out:-
· Air Con Re-Gas 10/03/26
· Cam belt (timing belt) & water pump changed 140,835 (30/11/23).
· PCV Valve Changed 168,200 I would recommend changing this every 2-3 years especially if not doing many miles.
· Surface rust recently removed, treated and re-sprayed around some of the wheel arches.
· Bonnet recently re-sprayed due to excessive stone chips, please remember matching 20 year old reflex metallic silver paint is nearly impossible (photos shown of bonnet).
· Original Monza wheels recently re-sprayed to satin black.
Faults:-
Just sliding mechanism on front seats common issues, plastic cable clips which snap over time. I have purchased the replacements that just need fitting as shown on image next to the keys. The seats do slide though so you can get in and out the back, it’s the tilt and slide function that doesn’t work.
· Passenger seat slides back and forth, but had a seized pin and this has been removed to allow it to slide, these will need re-fitting and you will need to re-place the cable clip, this is an easy fix the seat will just need to be removed with 4 bolts and clip fitted then re-fit seat.
· Driver seat slides fine and pins are fine, just needs to replace cable clip again to allow to slide when you tilt seat, the originals always break as they go brittle over time. Again seat will need to be removed to replace this and then re-fit, easy fix.
The car is currently parked at my work in Burton-upon-Trent and I will not be putting any miles on the car.
