The owner instructed a local VW specialist to investigate it not starting or running. The engine was stripped down and found that the timing chain had probably jumped. This has caused considerable cylinder head damage.The cylinder head was then inspected by an expert who declared it beyond repair. The owner was then quoted a considerable sum to replace the whole engine, not just the head, and so he decided to purchase another car instead, and instructed us to dispose of the Golf as is.
So the options now are to either obtain a complete head or of course a complete second hand engine. Both are available on line.
Prior to this breakdown the car was a very nice example. It has a recorded mileage of just 71,500. The 18″ five hole alloys could do with a refurb, and the tyres are all good. The interior is very tidy ( although a lot of the engine parts are in there!) and the bodywork is in good order. Please have a close look at the photographs. If you want any more please ask. We have two keys, the V5 document and it is HPi free. A photo of the certificate is included. There is an owners book pack with a service record showing eleven stamps, mostly main dealer. Obviously it will be needed to be trailered away.
